About The Waltham, MA Arts Council
The Waltham Arts Council has pursued its stated purpose avidly over the past 28 years. The council's programs cover a complete range of the arts and include Concerts, Children and Adult Educational Art and Craft Programs, Festivals, Art Shows, Art Classes, Holiday Concerts.

In May of 1975 approximately 100 people attended an organizational meeting of the Waltham Arts Council heralding a great interest in the Arts in this community. At this and subsequent meetings directed by Waltham Arts Council President and Superintendant of Schools Dr. Fred Stokely, the members explored and identified teh needs and wants of the community.

The council was incorporated as a 501(c)3, federally tax exempt, non-profit organzation with by-laws showing the purpose of the council to be:
To serve as a coordinating center for the various art programs and groups in the community of Waltham.
   
To sponsor and excercise the development of active art programs and groups in the community.
   
To encourage citizen's participation in and appreciation of the arts.
   
To raise and collect funds in order to provide the above services.

The council continues to provide the services mandated by its articles of incorporation and is facilitated in this effort by the addition of the offices located in the Arthur J. Clark Government Center Building.
